After a very difficult season with two victories (one officially), Bishop Rummel is an improved team and ready to progress this season.

The Raiders got off to a good 2-0 start after a 61-48 victory at Lusher Charter on Tuesday night.

Rummel led 13-9 after a quarter and 34-21 at halftime. The Lions cut the deficit 45-38 after three quarters, but the Raiders slowly pulled out for a solid win on the road.

Chase Marino led the Raiders with 15 points while Ja’Mard Jones finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Darrius Davis finished with nine points.

“It was a very good defensive effort,” said Rummel coach Scott Thompson. “We play 11-12 guys, spinning a lot of players. We are a very young but hungry team and have shown tremendous growth. The effort is clearly there.

Rummel returns to action next Tuesday at home against West Jefferson while Lusher (4-2) faces Albany on Friday at 5 p.m. in the Northlake Christian Tournament.

Bonnabel claimed four straight wins after a solid 75-72 win over St. Amant in Kenner, giving the Gators their first loss of the season.

In a pushing game, the Bruins trailed 21-9 midway through the second quarter, but they activated it from there to lead by one at halftime.
